First Day of Spring Break

Today is Jacob's first day of Spring Break. Joel and I were wondering what we could do that would entertain the kids without a lot of crowds. Little did we know, all we needed was a truckbed full of dirt and a trailer of mulch. The next-door neighbor boys came over and they all played for a long time.

Sara tooled around on a scooter with some help from Abby.
Later on, the boys all caught a lizard and put it in what they thought was a suitable home. Somehow, Jacob got to "keep" it. Again, I had to explain that lizards don't live very well in boxes and it was only fair to let him go. It took alot of repeating.

Finally, the lizard is free!

I Spy a reptile in a bush. Do you?

Gone Fishing

Today, we took the kids fishing at the little lake (pond?) near our house. Jacob is learning quickly the patience and skill needed to catch a fish.

Joel and I caught one brim each and both kids got to see a fish close up. Jacob wanted to put one in a cup of water to bring home. I had to explain to him that the fish deserved to go back to their own home.
